“I think that’s a good plan,” I agreed, then reluctantly slid my hand from his. “Text me when you’re home.”

“Will do.” He bent and kissed me again, this time on the corner of my mouth, and it was all I could do not to grab his head and make it a proper kiss. The spark that zinged between us was intense, and I inhaled sharply and almost pulled him closer. He straightened and stepped back quickly, a rueful sort of smile on his face. “See you later.”

“Bye,” I said softly, not taking my gaze off him until he’d disappeared out the door. I stared at it until I saw the dead bolt turn, and then I blew out a breath and scrubbed my hands over my face. I had it bad, and I knew it.

I just hoped our relationship didn’t end up in disaster.
