Chapter 11

Vampires always made the best assassins, no matter what it was they were expected to do. They were fast, strong, precise. The best technology the Rangers had was modelled off vampiric traits.

What really surprised Rory was Liberty working for a callous thug like Jane, especially since he could undoubtedly take out all of her guards, no problem.

When he came out into the courtyard, he found the girl he’d met before sitting sideways in Blaise’s saddle, leaning over the pommel and chatting with her. He hadn’t thought that he would talk to her again, so he’d never found out her name, not even while waiting with her in that bar.

“Blaise, why don’t you introduce me to your friend?” he said as he approached.

“This is Stella!” Blaise’s ears flicked forward. “She’s telling me about that guy you were with. Liberty.”

“Is that so?” he asked, looking at the girl. “I’m Rory. How d’you do?”

“I’m alright,” she replied, looking him over. “How do you keep your uniform so white?”
