“Wait for the signal,” he reminded them, knowing that Rory would be displeased if anyone started firing early, prematurely giving away their position.

That could be dangerous. If enough of that rabble realized there were snipers in the unfortified buildings opposite, they would be overtaken. There were guards at the bottom to take care of anyone who did try and attack the snipers, but if too many rushed in all at once, the defenders would be overwhelmed. Libs would be fine, but not everyone could leap from building to building.

A flash of light lit the air as a flare went off, illuminating the streets around the Saloon in an eerie green glow.
