He didn’t know what he expected. A killer’s lips shouldn’t be so soft, so yielding. Someone who’d spent the better part of the last six years rebelling against human laws shouldn’t be this eager to return the kiss. Even though they’d been trapped in close quarters together, Genthry’s scent was like clean and fresh rain. Dryath couldn’t get enough of it. When he came up for air, he would have cheerfully gone in again.

He thought for a moment Genthry would offer. His eyes all but shone. When he smiled softly, though, he just put a hand on Dryath’s arm. “As intoxicating as that was, we need to find someplace safer. Plehsiss has some interesting wildlife outside of the settlements, and we don’t want someone to catch us out here unawares.”5
