“To be honest, the best way to get him home would probably be to have someone bring him to the back gate after you’ve left.” Jormoly scratched at his arm. “It’s difficult, of course. Waiting for you to be out of the area gives us plausible deniability. We’ll come up with a lie. Of course, we’ll keep up with the story that you saved him from the mob after he was injured—”

“Which is true.” Dryath crossed his arms over his chest.

“True or not isn’t important right now.” Genthry put a hand on Dryath’s shoulder. “What matters is that we get you to safety with a minimum of repercussions. They’ll probably be angry, but I don’t want them arresting youfor it.”
