“Nothing happened. I’m fine. You’re the one who’s in rough shape, okay? I couldn’t just leave you alone with those people. I took every precaution and got help when I needed it. Just like you taught me. Now, come on.” She offered her arm to help him stand. More than likely, he would need full assistance the entire way out of this hellhole. “I’ve got you. What do we always say? We look out for each other. That’s what we do. Come on, try to get up. Put your weight on my shoulder.”
