Chapter 25

“And, I’d like to pass along a tradition my wife’s family gave to me. That bed you’re sleeping in is far too small for two big guys like you and Nick.” He paused when Todd spit his coffee out and choked.

“Whaa…?” He reached for a napkin, mopping coffee off the table.

Porter chuckled. “You need to spend time in the lumber mill. As I said, I’ll arrange it. Before Gwen and I married, I built a bed. We had it our entire life together. You and Nick need a bigger bed, and you should build one for the two of you. It’s going to be a while before you can hunt again or even work a full day, but sitting around won’t help you either, and this will give you plenty to do.” He waved at the rooms in general. “In fact, Gwen and I made most of this furniture. It’s a wonderful way to relax, very therapeutic.”

“I…you know, that sounds like a good idea actually. I turned a big closet in my apartment into a room for Nick when he first came to me. Thank you, for helping Nick, us.”
