Chapter 5

Walden kept his hands clasped tightly in his lap for fear they would betray him, nervous excitement pumping through his body. Even now, he could remember the first day he had seen Jay walk into the shop. Jay had been in light-gray slacks, the sleeves of his peach dress shirt rolled up neatly to the elbows, a sparkle appearing in his eyes every single time he smiled. Oh, and his laugh—nobody knew just how much it made Walden weak in the knees, even earlier in the evening when for a brief moment he’d feared Jay was laughing at him. The effect was definitely unlike anything he’d ever experienced before, not that he was complaining.

Still, dating a man—surely what they were about to do was a date—sent his stomach into a fit of cartwheels.
