Chapter 7

“Jay,” someone exclaimed, popping out of the crowd and throwing their arms around him. He was rocked, his connection with Walden broken while his hold on the wine tightened. A kiss was placed on his cheek. A bubbly redhead in a shimmery blue velvet gown beamed a megawatt smile in his direction as she stepped back. “I was beginning to think you were going to skip out this year.”

“Had a little trouble.”

“You look amazing in that suit.” She gave him an appraising eye. “Which reminds me, we need to go shopping sometime next week.”

“Whenever you like, my dear,” he said, and then remembered Walden at about the same time Poppy noticed him.
