I’d seen the smiles and relaxed demeanor, though. The man exuded peace and confidence no matter what setting he was in.
“So who is he, man?” Raoul asked from behind me.
I turned away before my interest got read as something more. “Just a friend.”
When his table’s ticket came through, I glanced through it before slipping away to find Missy again. I had to be quick. Leaving my station more than once when I wasn’t on my break would get me written up.
She was at the water station, filling a tray of glasses.
“Let fourteen know dinner’s taken care of,” I said. “Just tell me when you want to ring it through. I’ll give you my card.”
Missy frowned. “You sure? They ordered a bottle of wine, too, and I don’t think they’re going to stop at one.”
