He grinned. “You’re pretty irresistible, you know.”

“You could’ve fooled me.”

He reached across and ruffled my hair. “Once I complete my business with Armitage, I’ll make sure we have some time alone.”

“You’re a tease.”

“But you love me anyway.”

“Well, of course!” But I said it in such a way that he’d know I was teasing. He probably didn’t realize I’d never have agreed to marry him—no matter what Sir said, no matter what Granddad said—if I hadn’t cared about him.

“Kipp.” He suddenly sounded very serious. “This is your wedding, too.”

“Yes?”

“The catering manager will be available to show you the Rampart Room and the facilities that are part of it.”

“And?”

“I want you to feel free to make any changes you want. Flowers, food, decorations, the bands.”

“Bands, plural?”

“Of course. Webster, the catering manager, suggested having music both generations could enjoy, and it sounded like a good idea.”

“It does.”
