The calm was comfortable, making the events of yesterday and last night fade somewhat. He still had no rational explanation for what happened, but maybe those events had an end. Perhaps the ghostly vision in his bedroom had been the climax, and he would see or hear no more oddities. Maybe tomorrow he would call that Officer Morgan and see if the police had found out anything. He knew that was a dead-end street, but it would give him something to do. Maybe his fears were the result of a misguided prankster. He’d heard how boys could be.

And the ghostly vision? It could have been nothing more than a dream. It wouldn’t have been the first time Hunter had experienced a dream that seemed so real he thought he was awake. Who hadn’t?
