“Enochian, I think humans call it.” Breath whispered across the tingling blood trail on his chest when Haziel leaned in close and mouthed words a couple of centimeters from Zeke’s skin. The tingle magnified to a burning sensation for a moment and then faded away as if it had never been. Haziel pulled away and met his curious look with a smile. “Done. And I would use Enochian warding on you, but I fear it would change you permanently. Adamic is less eternal.”

“I don’t mind,” Zeke told him. The idea he might carry a mark from this place, to prove he had met this amazing angel, that this wasn’t a fever dream, had its appeal. The answer he gave could be taken either way, so Zeke let it stand on its own.

Haziel said nothing to that, which was fine. Zeke should’ve kept his mouth shut.
