Chapter 25

“I will explain the rigors of a long march and see to his provisions,” Haziel said. Exhaustion rested deep in his tone, but the angel didn’t look like he was tired at all. Familiarity was probably how he was able to notice it, to begin with.

“Good. We leave in ten hours and the commanders fully expect you to be ready.” Peliel gave them an odd little salute with a pound of his fist to his breastplate, dead center, then he was off between the ivory tents again. That angel didn’t seem like the type to stay in one spot for long.

“Come, Zeke,” Haziel gestured to the open flaps of his tent. “I want you to know what your options are before you agree to march with the army.”

Zeke complied, but he already knew he was going to stick with Haziel, no matter what. The angel had kept him safe from the start and he wasn’t about to give up his companion for someone else.
