Chapter 49

“The battle is about to commence and we must go.” Haziel twisted his face into the back of Zeke’s neck until the sharp line of his nose almost hurt Zeke. He sagged back into Haziel.

“Do we have to?” Zeke grumbled. Of course, they had to. Haziel was insistent. More than anything Zeke had the overwhelming urge to be stubborn until his lover changed his mind.

Haziel answered by turning him over and pressing him into the curve of the hammock with a kiss that scrambled Zeke’s brain. The angel probably didn’t want him to leave either, but would do the right thing. The sadness Zeke almost tasted in his kiss told him Haziel’s heart would break to let him go home.

So much given over a promise. So much taken over the same. Zeke hated this with every inch of his soul. He should’ve never let Haziel make a promise to him. Not with these consequences.
