Chapter 32

I threw myself into my work at seven o’clock more than I ever had before, trying to calm myself down after two close calls. I was in the lobby when Arielle came down and inquired with my boss at the desk about a shuttle to the airport when she checked out in a few days. It was then that I heard what my boss said to her.

“That’s a very pleasant perfume you’re wearing, madam.”

She smiled, said thank you and left the hotel without looking in my direction. And I started to sneak out of the lobby myself, hoping to find myself needed elsewhere when my boss called me over.
