“Right now, it’s the middle of the night. We can’t do anything about these issues until morning, at least. Let’s go back to just being together, hugging, kissing, enjoying each other until morning, okay?”

“Yes, of course, you’re right. I probably should not have brought these things up right now. I’m ruining our first night together in Paris. Forget about all that for now. Come with me to the window.”

We got out of bed, wrapping ourselves in a blanket and walked to the window. “See that over there?” she said. “That’s the Eiffel Tower. And in this direction, straight down that wide avenue? That’s the Arc de Triomphe.

“I want you to do this for me. Tomorrow morning, after I leave for work, go out and begin walking around Paris. Familiarize yourself with the city. Keep an eye out for places that might have a help wanted sign out. Begin to know the city as a local. Talk to a few people. Your French is excellent. I want you to love the city as I do.”
