Chapter 16

“She’s nineteen now. Still with the family that had her since she was fifteen. They…sorta became her legal guardians even if they never could legally adopt her. Took her in and all. Nice people. Invite me over all the time, too.” He paused and said to Colin, “You don’t have that look in your eyes.”

“Look?”

“Yeah, that oh-poor-Dexter-I’ll-fix-you look.”

This was something Colin didn’t need any further explanation for. Instead of saying anything, he shrugged out of his hoodie and started slipping out of his top.

“What are you doing?”

Colin held his finger up to tell him to be patient as he tossed his shirt toward the bed. It fell short, majorly short, and landed in a heap on the floor. He turned around to show Dexter his bare back, leaning forward a little bit so that he got the full view.

“What…what happened?”

Warm fingers touched him, fingertips gently grazing his spine, curving first to the right and then to the left before straightening down.
