Chapter 55

“Where are we?”

“You’ll see,” Dexter said and knocked on the red door.

It opened a second later and a man about a decade older than Dexter stood there. He smiled, wide, full teeth showing and pulled the door open all the way. He had a birthmark on the right half of his face—a dark, pink mark that ran down to his neck that Dexter learned was called Port-wine stain.

“Hey, Dexie Queen!” he greeted. “Right on time! Or is the time right? Which do you prefer?”

Dexter laughed. “I guess both work, huh?”

“Sure do, sure do. So, is this your friend?”

“Yup.” Dexter put an arm around Colin. “This is Colin.”

“All right, well, come on in!”

He stepped aside to welcome them in. Colin looked up at Dexter, confusion stitched in every corner of his face. Eyebrows flicked up, Dexter guided him in and couldn’t help but smile when Colin’s face lit up as he realized he’d taken him to a tattoo parlor.

“Dexter!” he exclaimed.

“Yeah?”

“Is this…really?!”
