“The thing about your boyfriend? I run into that all the time. You’re hardly the first guy who’s been in one of our movies who has a boyfriend at home.” He put his hand on Arliss’s knee. “You need to know—it can be worked out.”

“Really?”

“Really. Most guys who do this that have partners encounter some resistance at first, but if the guy really loves his boyfriend, he’ll come around. Because he wants his boyfriend to be happy. I’ve even had guys bring their boyfriends on set.” Josh grinned. He was making this up as he went along. “Even one time, the guy joined in the shoot.” He looked away from Arliss, adopting a wistful expression, as if he was remembering.

“I can’t see that happening with Sean. He’s pretty straightlaced, even if he isn’t straight. He’s hung up on the monogamy thing, you know? I’m monogamous too, and if I did this, I’d still be monogamous—emotionally and in my heart.” Arliss sighed. “Does that sound like total rationalizing bullshit?”
