He got up and tiptoed to the bedroom. Arliss lay curled in a fetal position on the bed. Josh didn’t know if he was sleeping or simply staring listlessly ahead. Josh thought about saying some words to comfort the guy but knew there was nothing he could say that would make his situation any more tolerable, at least not without lying. Josh turned away from Arliss, trying to imagine him as nothing more than a slab of meat lying on the bed, a hole waiting to be filled.
He needed to think of him that way. It was his only option for getting through this shoot with his own sanity intact.
