“I’d be grateful for anything you could bring in,” she said softly. “Thank you.”
Kenneth knew hunting wouldn’t exactly be an easy task, especially if he had to wander very far to find a deer or an elk. But her simple expression of gratitude was enough to push any concerns out of his head. He’d bring something back for her even if it took all day and night.
“I’m happy to help. Besides, there’s nothing better to get through a harsh winter storm than a thick, venison stew.”
“And fresh biscuits.” Her smile was brilliant as she turned back to her milking. “I’ve got elderberry preserves from this past fall we can spread on them for dessert.”
“Sounds delicious.”
