Nick trailed along, and when Todd hovered near the back where Benning and his accomplices were likely to be settling in for their game, Nick tapped Todd’s arm once. “Do you require a drink?”
“I do, and if you behave, you may get one for yourself.”
Nick dropped his voice so only Todd could hear him. “I always behave.”
Todd chuckled. “And here I thought you were such a shy boy.”
“I am. Just not with you,” Nick said over his shoulder as he turned toward the bar.
“Thank goodness for that,” he heard Todd mumble.
Nick waited at the bar, watching as Todd casually moved closer to Benning, then greeted him. The man in the white suit was with them. At one point they looked beyond Todd to Nick.
“Here for the game tonight?” It was the waiter.
“Yes, well, my mate is. I’m merely a spectator,” Nick said and sighed for effect.
