Wars are fought on many fronts. A battle is raging across New Colorado Protectorate with both human and demonic players. Todd and Nick are given a mission to find and stop weapons smugglers by going undercover on the riverboat, Annabelle. These aren't typical arms dealers, they're demons and they're not afraid of a pair of sentries. The Rugers will have to use all their skills and their most powerful weapon, the bond between them, just to stay alive. Stopping the supply of illegal weapons turns to trying, and failing, to thwart an assassination. Todd and Nick have each other, but will they be able to keep their love intact?

“Maybe he was just fishing. I’ll make sure the hands I lose are when you’re around. And don’t spend as much time at the poker table when we’re there,” Todd said.


Nick nodded. “What do I do about Leo? He’s getting pretty pushy about me being part of some extended entertainment.”


“Yeah, I’ve heard bits and pieces of conversations between Benning and Snow. Mostly Benning talks, and Snow scopes out who is around. I get the impression they’re both a couple of real perverts, and I don’t like the way they look at the slaves on board, particularly you. And yes, it concerns me, and yes, it makes me jealous, and Benning has noticed.”


“We have to remember, they’re not really people,” Nick said quietly. “They’re bodies with a demon inside.”
