Wars are fought on many fronts. A battle is raging across New Colorado Protectorate with both human and demonic players. Todd and Nick Ruger are sentries with an arsenal of talents and training to combat threats from a variety of enemies. Todd and Nick are given a mission to find and stop weapons smugglers by going undercover on the riverboat, Annabelle. These aren't typical arms dealers, they're demons and they're not afraid of a pair of sentries. The Rugers will have to use all their skills and their most powerful weapon, the bond between them, just to stay alive. Stopping the supply of illegal weapons turns to trying, and failing, to thwart an assassination. Todd and Nick have each other, but will they be able to keep their love intact?

Tethered Pair

“Yes.” Todd tried to take a deep breath, winced, and whimpered, “No.” Nick put one arm around Todd’s shoulder and stood up, taking Todd with him. “Ouch,” Todd exhaled, took a step away from Nick, and squared his shoulders.


Heidi marched up to them and stood, hands on hips. “What the hell did you think you were going to do?”


Nick tensed. A sideways glance at him told Todd his mate was about to drop to one knee.


Todd grabbed Nick’s arm, stopping him, and hissed out, “Don’t even think about it, pal.” He focused on Heidi. “Mrs. Larue, you’re a—”


“Maverick. My name is Heidi Maverick.” She reached out and grabbed Todd’s shirt, pulling it to the side. “And your name is not Tyler McCabe. Who are you really?” Heidi demanded.


“You’re Johnny’s kid.” Heidi cut him off.


“Johnny?” Todd and Nick said together. Heidi gave them a pained look and shrugged.
