Chapter 21

“I’m not used to monster hunting. Anything I should pack?” Dustin asks.

“Just treat it like a road trip. Bring a few days of clothes, toiletries, anything you need. I have my Glock, but unless you have a carry permit, you can’t have a gun,” Ronan says, patting his side where the gun he pointed at Dustin earlier that day is concealed.

They eat their meal and talk about the case, the different women, trying to hunt out hidden connections. Once they finish, Dustin gives Ronan his address, and Ronan drives him home.

“I’ll see you at eight tomorrow. We have a day of driving. Be packed and ready to go. Try and get lots of sleep,” Ronan instructs.

“Will do, see you tomorrow.” Dustin gets out of the car and goes up to his little apartment. Dustin looks back at Ronan’s car, expecting him to be gone only to find Ronan watching him. Ronan doesn’t look away when Dustin makes eye contact, and Dustin waves back, feeling his cheeks flush as Ronan leaves.
