Chapter 76

Ronan raises his gun and walks toward the noise. As he moves forward, he notices something on the floor—blood. Ronan kneels down to check if it’s still wet, still warm. Which it is—it’s more blood than the Sanguisdemon cries, so Ronan thinks he must have hit the demon with one of his shots back in the warehouse.

Ronan is just straightening up again when something solid barrels into him, knocking him off his feet. Ronan holds onto his gun, not wanting to drop it, and quickly scrambles to his feet, only to come face-to-face with glowing red eyes. Dustin was right—the Sanguisdemon had followed them, followed its victims here.

The Sanguisdemon hisses at him and charges, and its razor-sharp claws shred right through Ronan’s jacket sleeve and into his arm, which makes him drop the gun.

“Damn it,” Ronan curses. He goes to grab the gun, but the Sanguisdemon blocks him. It bares its teeth and launches at Ronan.
