Daniel had never been able to explain the hold Paulo held over him. Growing up, a child draped in shyness, attention of any kind evoked the blush that signaled to the world his embarrassment. Shooting up to be the tallest in his class at a young age was a cruel irony for someone who hated people staring at him. His odd affliction only magnified Daniels’ inherent need for privacy and space.
