Chapter 15

When the lock was thrown, she stepped back in time to meet Seth’s frown. He looked less than pleased to see her, but the knots in her stomach eased at the sight he was actually all right.

Though he was barefoot and dressed in sweats and a T-shirt that seemed too sloppy for his usual style, Seth stepped onto the porch and pulled the door shut behind him. “What’re you doing here?” he hissed.

His attitude annoyed her. Matching his frown with her scowl, she said, “You owe me some answers.”

“I told you to call.”

“So I’m calling in person. Sue me.”

“This isn’t safe.”

“Because of Celeste? I told you. I know what she is. Just like I know you were the one behind the condolence note. You sent that to me.”

Seth didn’t deny it. “We can’t discuss this here.”

“You were okay to discuss it the other day.”

“Only until you showed up and I realized how dangerous having you around actually was.”
