Claire swiveled back to Seth. “Can Simon drive?”


“You’re not doing it here,” Sosata warned. “They’re still thralls, and I’m not letting them near my place.”


“We don’t need to,” Claire said. “I have the keys to Grandfather’s apartment. That’s closer for Simon to get to than mine.”


He had to interrupt. His body had grown too tight with anticipation to continue on in silence. “So we’re actually going to do this?”


Her smile was brilliant. “We’re doing this.”


She shocked both him and Sosata by cupping his face in her hands and giving him a kiss. It didn’t last long enough to return, but after she’d sat back, he made sure to swipe his tongue over his lower lip to devour every taste of her he could.


The only thing that would have made it better was if he could have shared it with Simon. But that too was only a matter of time. Once they were free from Celeste, nothing could stop them from showing Claire exactly how grateful they were.
