“I thought you should know,” Cade said. “In case you didn’t. And in case you like weddings as much as Jeremiah does. And because you’re now more or less the symbol of our two realms coming together, which is nicely poetic, don’t you think?”

Peter had started to answer. The answer turned into a sort of desperate squeak: the opposite of eloquence.

“Go and look at him.” Cade finished off his own tea. “Really look. And listen. And then talk. Say what you’re feeling. That matters, saying things.”

“You would say that,” Peter told him. “Poet.”

“I’m so glad we’re friends now,” Cade said. “Having a friend on the new Inter-Realm Liaison Committee will be nice.”

“Oh no.”
