Shane's Ride

Wade and Shane were inside by that time, and Nancy and Anna were closing in the side door, spraying water everywhere. Meg returned and in the shower of water, the four of them were able to get to all the remaining horses, shooing them toward the open doors. As Wade and Shane went to follow, they tripped over someone, and Wade shouted, “Where’s Chris? Where’re the girls? Is this Dad?” but nobody could hear him. They both dropped to their knees, remembering they should keep low. Meg should have been right behind them and for a minute they thought the scantily clad body in front of them was hers. Then Shane found out, by a carelessly placed hand, that it was not, but he took hold of what he could grab—not that, you pervert—the lower legs, and towed the body out the double doors. He thought Wade was right behind him, but Wade had heard a cough, and crawled back inside.
