Chapter 8

“You’ve never seen a vampire who enjoys normal human food as much as I do, have you?”

Darby shook his head. “I honestly thought you would order the rare steak so you might be able to taste the blood a little. Something like that.”

Riordan chuckled. “I actually love beef burgers and fries.”

Dillon snorted. “You love to eat. Period.”

Riordan snickered at Dillon. “You know me so well.”

Dillon shrugged. “We’re boyfriends. We’ve been together for quite a while now.”

Darby darted his eyes back and forth between Riordan and Dillon. “Why aren’t you mated yet? I mean, you’re both my soul mates. There’s no way the two of you aren’t each other’s soul mates.”

“We had tried to bond six months into the relationship,” Riordan replied.

“But?”

“At first, the bond had thrummed,” Dillon answered. “We thought we would be mated for sure. Then it had fizzled and become sluggish before it sort of hibernated.”

“Oh! I’ve forgotten about that possibility.”
