Chapter 12

“You don’t have to leave when the sun goes down.” The words surprised him, probably more than they surprised Cole, but hell, if he lasted this long around Cole when he was exhausted, he’d be more than fine when he was fully awake. He couldn’t look at him, though. He didn’t want to witness any satisfaction Cole might betray in getting to him. “I’m taking you down to the scene. You’re going to tell me everything that’s happened.”

Silence made his ears ring. He was almost ready to speak up again, just to fill the void, when Cole said quietly, “Whatever you say, Brady.”

Brady almost smiled.

That was the last thing he heard before slipping into sleep.4
