“I went to the police station first this morning. I didn’t want to keep Jesse locked up longer than I needed to.”
“That was thoughtful of you, Michelle.” Jesse stepped away from the door. “But maybe you should go take care of Dominique.”
“You might try asking her who she wants to live with.” Though Jesse had had anti-Michelle feelings ever since Gideon had found him, this was the first time they had confronted her in person. It felt more than a little good to have Jess on his side during one of these fights. “Or why she’s even there for you to see. The only reason she didn’t run away last night is because I asked her not to. She was ready to come back here, regardless of what you wanted.”
Jesse’s cough sounded suspiciously like a snort, but before Gideon could ask what was so funny, Michelle rounded on him.
