“Hey, Megan, I hate to be a spoilsport, but I’ve got a meeting that’s set to start any minute,” he lied. “Is there some specific reason you called?” And how did you find my number?The only contact information he’d provided on his RSVP was an email he used to keep the spam out of his real accounts.

“Mostly just to say how thrilled we all are that you’re coming,” she said. “Who knew thirty would be so huge? We’ve got our star running back returning, we’ve got Trev Chambers playing for the first time in years. It’s exciting, don’t you think?”

Mention of Trev sent a charge through him, but he kept his tone neutral. “Trev Chambers? Oh, right, he had that punk band after graduation.”

“That’s him. He’s been my great white whale. I don’t think he’s ever been to a reunion. At least you used to come before you moved up north.”

“How did you convince him to come this time?”
