Chapter 34

“Anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?”

Arlo had a hard time getting his brain to function. The heat of Nash oozed into him like tendrils searching for his core.

“Come on, babe, let’s eat, get some sleep, and I promise everything will look better in the morning.”

Look better?Arlo doubted it. He was too tired to think, but he allowed Nash to steer him toward the kitchen. 12

Nash bit the inside of his cheek. He’d heard Arlo’s song, had watched him through the window as he’d stood in the dark and brushed his hair, and he’d never sensed such sorrow in his entire life.

What creature sang like that? There hadn’t been words, just…sounds.

The beast didn’t care, he wanted to tackle Arlo to the bed and fuck him silly—it was their right to do so, but Nash reined him in. Not tonight

The claws raking his ribcage were sharp enough to make him wince, but he pretended he wasn’t fighting a war with himself, and once again prodded Arlo to eat.
