“Yes, the knife. If someone found a body in the woods yesterday, the police will be looking for leads. It’s not smart to keep it.”

The police?“Babe, I don’t think the police will be involved in this. The man…he wasn’t exactly a law-abiding citizen.”

“What has that got to do with things? All murders are investigated.”

Murders. Nash tried not to react to the word. He’d snapped the man’s neck, clean and simple, and it was precisely what the man deserved. Arlo, who might be a bird, and definitely was some kind of healer, might not agree. “Yeah…what I meant was I don’t think anyone has reported it to the police.”

Arlo’s mouth opened slightly. “You think someone stole the body?”

“I think someone hid the body, to remove any evidence of anyone having been in the forest…with you.”

Arlo paled. “Why?”

“Exactly,” Nash and Gilbert said at the same time.
