“You didn’t think I knew you were a vampire?” The man who was mated to the female chuckled, and Nash realized his nose was healed and the woman’s hair was a blueish black. “You didn’t think my mate would sense it on you?” The man tsked. “Sad. I could’ve sold you for a great deal of money, but I can’t risk it. The colloidal silver on the blade is spreading in your body. Did you know it kills both vampires and shifters quite effectively? You’ve risen for the last time.”
A black fury swept over Nash, and he welcomed it. One second he was reaching for Arlo, the next he leaped at the man. The scent of blood filled the air as Nash dug his claws into his throat and ripped out his larynx.
The woman’s wail would haunt him forever, but he didn’t let it stop him. Instead, he turned his focus to the man with the knife.
