“We need to have dinner. We’re not going to bed without eating again,” Jayden says, his stomach grumbling, because the air is already thick with tension, and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve gotten so distracted by each other that they end up skipping meals.
“I think he’s hungry,” Chogan pretends to whisper to Elijah.
“I can’t help that I need to eat more than you guys,” Jayden says.
“Come on, we don’t want Jayden to get grumpy,” Elijah says, wiggling out from between them and heading for the kitchen.
“I do not get grumpy,” Jayden says, following Elijah like a puppy, pleased when he hears Chogan follow too.
It’s been five months since they got together, and things still feel new and fragile at times. Jayden is terrified that things will just fall apart. But so far, it’s been amazing. It’s been easier than Jayden had thought it would be. He’d always thought he could never have this—a long-term relationship with anyone. But it’s been so good.
