Chapter 51

The fairy queen faced them all and bowed again. “I take my leave of you. Make the world a better place, love and stand by each other,” she commanded them. Snow White bowed her head to accept the command and acknowledge it, and she realized that the others were doing the same. In a burst of sparkling air, the fairy queen was gone, and they were alone in the clearing.

Anthony, holding Christopher’s hand and radiating pure joy and relief, turned to Snow White, Aurora, and the fairies. “Thank you,” he said, his voice charged with emotion. “Thank you for saving Christopher.”

Snow White was caught off guard, so apparently was Aurora. The two young women shook their heads in befuddlement. “We…didn’t…we…there wasn’t any other choice,” Snow White said, falling back on the words Nancy had said to them.

“And it wasn’t just for Christopher,” Aurora added.

“And it wasn’t the girls or us who healed Christopher’s wounds,” Nancy said in a firm voice.
