“And medications,” Jackson added. “When I looked through his medical files, I saw various drugs had been tried.”

“We didn’t have much luck with them.”

“But it’s an option,” Jackson said. “We’re committed to Tony. Don’t get me wrong. But this is something we need to address head-on. I get the feeling that Tony was abused.”

“The mother denies it,” Heather said.

“Probably sexually abused. And when I read through his file, there was something I thought was odd.”

“Oh?” she asked.

“His mother doesn’t have HIV.”

“No, she doesn’t.”

“I thought his HIV was transmitted in the womb. I assumed, I should say.”

“She used intravenous drugs, had needles lying around.”

“But Tony could have been infected by sexual abuse.”

“That’s a possibility, yes.”

“We need to get to the bottom of it. That’s my point.”

“The counseling sessions weren’t very helpful,” she pointed out.

“I thought about that. Was there an interpreter present?”
