“Don’t Senatorme, Nick.” Blake snarled into the phone. “Where the hell do you get off lashing out at me like that on national television? You know goddamn well the position I’m in here.”
Nick sighed as he headed toward the exit. “Is this something you really want to get into right now? I’m not in my office. I’m walking around a very open street, heading home. Anyone could overhear.”
“God damn it, Nick, don’t give me that shit.”
Nick curled his lip. If Blake’s constituents could only hear him now. “Look, I didn’t say anything you don’t already know. Or that I haven’t already told you a thousand times before. This bill you’re supporting is six tons of bullshit squeezing out of a one ton tube and you know it. I understand why you felt compelled to go along with it, but you know exactly why it’s damaging. You might choose to hide but it has no bearing on me. I will notsit idly by and pay lip service to a bunch of homophobic nonsense because of choices you made.”
