“Mmm. So it would have nothing to do with those two men, one of whom is old enough to be your damn father, that I saw you with here not too long ago. Making, if I recall, an actual commitment to a relationship with them.”

Luke’s stomach lurched. He slammed his hand over his mouth before he could return what little he’d eaten to sender. “That was you in that booth,” he said when he managed to get control of his gut again. “You were here, and you let me think you were delayed.”

“I did.” Bruce shrugged, keeping his eyes firmly locked onto Luke’s. “I needed to know what was going on with you. I needed to make sure you were honoring our agreement. And I was right.”

“I never agreed to stay single.” Luke slouched in his seat. “You told me to stay single, and I’ve done that.”

“Because you seemed to have a modicum of common sense. Is this some delayed adolescence thing? Because I have to say, it’s not cute at all.” Bruce frowned.
