“It’s not for me to criticize your family. And I think we all know why your uncle wants you to go away for the holiday. But that’s not what we asked. Luke, this is your home too. Do youwant to stay here for Thanksgiving?”
Luke hadn’t known he had a lump in his throat before, but all of a sudden he couldn’t breathe. He was drowning, but he hadn’t been near the water. Most Thanksgivings he just hung out on campus and studied. “I…are you sure?”
Nick nipped at Luke’s shoulder. “Yes. We’re sure. We want you here. We love you. We’re building something here, and we want to spend the holiday with you. We’ll spend every holiday with you if you let us.”
Luke staggered. The thought of spending every holiday with these guys was almost more than he could take. “I mean—really?” Way to go, very eloquent, proof you’re an educated man.
