“Close your eyes,” Galen instructed softly.
“Why?”
Galen frowned. “Just do it. Nothing bad will happen to you. I’ll keep you safe.”
Dion experienced a fleeting moment of doubt, but he eventually did as he was told to. “Done.”
“Great. Now, listen to me carefully.”
“I’m all ears.”
Galen snorted. “I can see that.”
Dion snickered. “Jerk.”
“It takes one to know one.”
Dion huffed. “Whatever. Get on with whatever you’ve planned for our date, please.”
“All right. In a short moment, you will feel something warm enveloping you. Don’t panic. It’s just my magic. It will protect you.”
“That doesn’t sound reassuring. Are we going somewhere dangerous?”
“No,” Galen answered immediately, but Dion detected a hint of uncertainty in the cupid’s tone of voice. “Well, not really.”
“Okay…” Dion trailed off as he did his best to remain calm.
“You will understand soon enough.”
“Can’t wait.”
“Good. Here it comes now.”
