Harun circled the house, slipping silently through the trees around it. There was a small stable behind it, with a pair of horses whose scent was quite familiar. They’d pulled the carriage he’d followed on this final leg of the journey.

A sharp-toothed grin spread across his feline face as he saw that there was also a servant’s door. After making certain there was no lurking stable boy to spot him, Harun came close and examined the door. He was not so lucky as to find it unbarred, but the door’s fit into its frame was bad enough that he could see the bar through that narrow gap. That would do.
