Chapter 22

Indeed the window barely slowed him down, it was latched rather than locked. A simple flat pick pushed the latch open and he pulled it up and slipped inside. It took a little longer to find the office he wanted, but Elania had told him enough to know it when he saw it. There were ranks of filing cabinets along one side of the room, but what he wanted would be locked away.

The big desk had a nice, obvious locked drawer. Surely it wouldn’t be that easy, and he’d have to search for hidden drawers? But when he picked it open—a two-pin tumbler lock, and an absurdly loose one, he could have picked it with a pair of toothpicks—he found exactly what he’d been told to look for.
