A little of the tension went out of the air as a guard put the warded cuffs on Kelwyn.
“Can I have a moment to grab some clothing?” said Harun.
“I’m sorry, sir,” said the first guard. “We’ve been specifically instructed to bring Kelwyn alone. Without you. You can come down to the station later if you need to.”
Harun blinked, but then nodded. “Very well. I shall do so. We will get this sorted out, Kelwyn.”
“Yeah, I’m sure,” Kelwyn said, though he didn’t feel any particular confidence in that. As the guards led him away, he couldn’t help but wonder, what the hellhad his doppelganger done now?
* * * *
Harun, hastily dressed, including his chain mail and sword, bounded up the steps from his room. He could have gone down, to the central guard station where Kelwyn was no doubt being held, but instead he was headed up, to see if Her Eternal Majesty was available.
