The wood shop was located just off the main house, but Josh could easily avoid most of the family by going around the back. Going to the main house meant not only being reminded of his position but also drawing the unwanted attention of Bryce and his band of idiots, who were more than comfortable acting like they owned the place. Josh’s appointment with Silverbane was on Silverbane’s terms, but if it meant his freedom, Josh was prepared to risk running into Bryce.
Even with that carrot dangling before him, Josh sat in his car—carefully concealed behind the garage—staring at the main house and wondering if Silverbane was really going to let him go. Only once he was confident that there was no movement behind the tall windows of the mansion did he leave the car and head around back to the wood shop.
